Body Found On The Side Of The Road, State Police Investigating

Laurel- The Delaware State Police are currently conducting a death investigation after a body was found deceased on the side of the roadway, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the investigation began on this morning, Saturday, March 9, 2019, at approximately 7:24 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to S. Shell Bridge Road in the area of Broad Creek Estates for a victim that was found deceased on the side of the roadway.

Rescue crews from the Laurel Fire Company responded to the area and confirmed that the person was deceased, according to reports from the scene.

The victim has been turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death. The adult victim’s identity is unknown at this time.

The investigation is in its early stages with further information being released as it becomes available, said Jaffe.

Laurel – At around 7:30 this morning, Saturday, March 9, 2019, Delaware State Police responded to the area of Shell Bridge Road and Holly Branch Drive.

At around 8:30 Troopers released a traffic advisory stating that road was closed due to police activity.  “*Traffic Advisory * Road Closure-S. Shell Bridge Road between Shell Bridge and Portsville Rd.-Laurel closed due to police activity.”

Officials have not released details surrounding the police activity, however, we do know that rescue crews that responded to the scene did not transport anyone to the hospital.
