Man Pleads Guilty To Murdering Woman Found In Park Porta-Potty

A 40-year-old man who left a trail of blood from a homicide scene to his apartment complex has pled guilty to murder.

It was around 9:30 on Sunday morning, October 01, 2017, when a man walking his dog noticed feet protruding from the porta-potty in Wilmington’s Kirkwood Park.

After returning to his residence to retrieve his phone, the man and his girlfriend returned to the park where they discovered the bloodied body of 31-year-old Rashawna Weathers inside the porta-potty and immediately called the police.

In the days following the discovery police found Timothy D. Jones near the park with a freshly bandaged hand. Forensic evidence and surveillance videos link him to the murder, according to prosecutors.

Officials announced Friday that Jones pled guilty to Murder Second Degree and Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony.

A Superior Court judge will sentence Jones later this year.
