Police Identify Body Found In Silver Lake As Missing Wesley College Student

The Dover Police Department is conducting a death investigation following the discovery of a body in Silver Lake on Monday morning. At approximately 9:10AM, officers responded to Silver Lake after receiving a call from a citizen who located the body near the shoreline of Lake Club Apartments. The Dover Fire Department helped to remove the deceased person from the lake. The body was then taken by the Delaware Division of Forensic Science Medical Examiner’s Unit.

The Dover Police Department has confirmed that the body that was located in Silver Lake on Sunday, March 17th, has been identified as Erick Acevedo-Palencia (21). Acevedo-Palencia was reported missing after he was last seen leaving a Wesley College dorm on February 12th, 2019.

A had issued a Gold Alert for Acevedo-Palencia had been issued based on information the department obtained following his disappearance

Dover – At 9:14 this morning rescue crews and local police responded to Silver Lake in Dover for reports of a body in the water.

Early indications are that crews are working to make a recovery at this time.
