Laurel Murder Suspect Extradited Back To Delaware


Laurel– Joseph A. Beck, 32 of Laurel has been extradited back to Delaware, where he has been charged and arraigned. On April 4, 2019, Beck was extradited back to Delaware from Stafford County Virginia, and charged with the following:

Laurel – The Delaware State Police in conjunction with the Delaware Department of Justice has indicted a Laurel man for murder and related charges in connection with a homicide that occurred between March 6, and March 8, 2019, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the investigation began on March 9, 2019, at approximately 7:24 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to S. Shell Bridge Road in the area of Broad Creek Estates for a victim that was found deceased on the side of the roadway. It was later determined that the cause and manner of death was a homicide, sustained from a gunshot wound to the upper torso, according to Jaffe.

The victim has been identified by the Delaware Division of Forensic Science as 34-year-old Tia A. Tucker of Seaford.

Through further investigations, the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit identified the suspect as 32-year-old Joseph Beck (photo 2010). On March 25, 2019, Beck was indicted on the following charges:

Murder First Degree
Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony
Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited
Abuse of Corpse

Beck is currently being held in Virginia, awaiting his extradition back to Delaware.

The case continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit.

Laurel – The Delaware State Police Homicide Unit is continuing to investigate the suspicious death of an adult female victim that has been ruled a homicide, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

On Thursday, March 21, 2019, detectives were in the area of Phillips Landing Road in reference to a follow-up investigation in regards to this case. Shell Bridge Road and Phillips Landing Road, as well as the intersection of Mt. Pleasant Road and Old Sharptown Road, were closed for approximately 4 hours while detectives continued their investigation.

The Delaware State Police are continuing to work with the Delaware Division of Forensic Science to determine the victim’s official identity.

Officials said there is no immediate concern for the public’s safety at this time.

Laurel- The Delaware State Police are currently conducting a death investigation after a body was found deceased on the side of the roadway, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the investigation began on this morning, Saturday, March 9, 2019, at approximately 7:24 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to S. Shell Bridge Road in the area of Broad Creek Estates for a victim that was found deceased on the side of the roadway.

Rescue crews from the Laurel Fire Company responded to the area and confirmed that the person was deceased, according to reports from the scene.

The victim has been turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science where an autopsy will be performed to determine the cause and manner of death. The adult victim’s identity is unknown at this time.

The investigation is in its early stages with further information being released as it becomes available, said Jaffe.

Breaking Report

Laurel – At around 7:30 this morning, Saturday, March 9, 2019, Delaware State Police responded to the area of Shell Bridge Road and Holly Branch Drive.

At around 8:30 Troopers released a traffic advisory stating that road was closed due to police activity.  “*Traffic Advisory * Road Closure-S. Shell Bridge Road between Shell Bridge and Portsville Rd.-Laurel closed due to police activity.”

Officials have not released details surrounding the police activity, however, we do know that rescue crews that responded to the scene did not transport anyone to the hospital.
