Three Young People Shot In Recent Days, Victims 12, 17

Police are investigating two separate shootings that left three young people wounded in recent days.

On Monday, May 9, 2022, at approximately 10:00 p.m. Laurel Police Department and Delaware State Police were dispatched to the area of Holly Brook Apartment complex for a shots fired complaint.

Upon their arrival, officers found a 17-year-old male had sustained numerous gunshot wounds by an unknown suspect. Good Samaritans and officers performed life-saving measures on the victim until EMS arrived to transport him to Tidal Health Emergency.

Police did not release the teen’s condition.

In a separate shooting on Tuesday, at 8:57 p.m. Dover Police officers responded to the 400 Block of Barrister Place for a report of shots fired.

When the officers arrived on scene, they located several shell casings at the rear of a home. While on scene, a 12-year-old male and a 17-year-old male with gunshot wounds arrived at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital by private vehicles.

The 17-year-old was flown to Christiana Hospital with a gunshot wound to the lower torso. The 12-year-old was shot in the hand and remained in Dover for treatment. Both are expected to survive their injuries according to police.

Officials said both victims provided multiple and differing accounts of the incident.
