Police: Maryland Man Charged With Assault, Strangulation Of Girlfriend

Seaford- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Federalsburg, Maryland man after he physically assaulted his girlfriend, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on March 30, 2019, at approximately 9:04 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to Cinnamons bar located at 606 Bridgeville Highway in Seaford for a report of a physical assault. Upon arrival, Troopers made contact with a female victim who sustained apparent facial injuries.

Through further investigation, it was determined that the victim’s boyfriend, 37-year-old Christopher A. Henry, had physically assaulted the victim while she was a passenger in her vehicle driven by Henry, Jaffee said. As they arrived at the bar, the victim attempted to get away from Henry on foot. Henry subsequently caught up to her and began to physically assault and strangle her, and threw her cell phone to restrict her from calling 911, according to Jaffe. The victim was able to get away and enter the bar to seek assistance.

The victim, a 37-year-old female from Maryland, was transported to the Nanticoke Memorial Hospital where she was treated with non-life threatening injuries.

Henry was located a short time later in a graveyard off of SR 20. He was taken into custody without incident and transported back to Troop 5 where he was charged with the following:

Assault Second Degree

He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $21,500.00 secured bond.
