Reports: Thursday Morning Crash Traps Two, One To Trauma By Air

Hartley – Early this morning, Thursday, April 25, 2019, rescue crews from the Hartly, Camden-Wyoming and Marydel Fire Companies, along with Kent County Paramedics and Trooper 4 were dispatched to
the 5600 block of Westfield Road for a vehicle accident with two subjects reported trapped.

Just before 6:45 an off-duty first responder contacted Kent Center to report that a crash had occurred on Westville Road between Big Ditch Road and Hazeletville Road. He reported that two subjects were trapped.

Upon arrival, crews began an evaluation and ordered the road closed. At around this same time Trooper 4 reported that they were 9 minutes out and command ordered them to continue in.

As crews worked to extricate the patient’s command alerted Kent Center that Trooper 4 would be utilized and requested an additional ambulance to the scene.

At approximately 7:15 Westville Road Command reported that one patient had been extricated for a vehicle.

Reports from the scene are limited so not much is known about the crash.

We do know that one patient was transported to the Trauma Center at Christiana Hospital via Trooper 4. Additionally, we know that Christiana Constables were requested to be on hand upon Trooper 4’s arrival.

We do not have information regarding the second patient.

We will update this story as more information becomes available.
