New Castle County Delaware Placed Under Tornado Watch

The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for New Castle County Delaware.

The watch is in effect until 8:00 pm this evening.

A FLASH FLOOD WATCH will also go into EFFECT at 4 PM THIS AFTERNOON THROUGH LATE TONIGHT.

This FLASH FLOOD WATCH is for northern Delaware, New Jersey and parts of Pennsylvania.

Strong to severe thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and evening and could result in damaging winds, large hail, and perhaps an isolated tornado.

A Flash Flood Watch means that there is the potential for flash flooding which can be life-threatening. Heavy rain is expected to occur over a short period of time. Rapidly rising flood waters may quickly overwhelm roadways and areas with poor drainage. Streams and creeks could leave their banks, flooding nearby properties.
