Officials Now Say 12 People Shot And Killed In Virginia Beach, 4 Others Wounded

At least 12 people were shot and killed when a gunman opened fire at a municipal building in Virginia Beach this afternoon, according to police Chief James Cervera.

Cervera said 12 victims are dead and 4 others are in the hospital. He also said the shooter is dead.

A police officer that immediately engaged the shooter was shot, however, he was saved by his bulletproof vest, said Cervera.

The shooter is believed to be a long-time public works employee.
