Police: Elkton Man Arrested For Possession Of More Than One Pound of Marijuana

Newark – On April 23, 2019, at about 7:00 p.m., a Newark Police Officer on patrol in the area of Elkton Road and Christina Parkway stopped a Hyundai Sonata for a traffic violation, according to Lt Andrew Rubin.
Rubin said during the course of the traffic stop, the officer found that there was marijuana in the vehicle. The officer developed probable cause to search the vehicle and located a significant amount of cash and a large amount of marijuana totaling over one pound, Rubin said.

The driver of the vehicle, identified as Trevon Hathaway, 24, of Elkton, Maryland was taken into custody without incident and transported to Newark Police Headquarters. Hathaway appeared before Justice of the Peace Court #2 and was charged with the following offenses:

Possession of a Controlled Substance in a Tier 1 Quantity
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Improper Tail Lights and other traffic offenses

Hathaway was released on his own recognizance.
