Police Looking For Man Who Robbed University Plaza Walgreens

Newark – The Delaware State Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Newark area Walgreens that occurred Tuesday night, according to  Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 9:55 p.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2019, at the Walgreen’s pharmacy, located at 15 University Plaza, Newark. A male suspect approached the employee at the sales counter and proceeded to make a purchase. As the employee opened the register to complete the transaction the suspect produced a note, announcing a robbery, said Austin. He also stated and implied that he was armed, added Austin. The suspect then reached into the register and removed an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing the business in an unknown direction. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect was described as a black male, 5’3”-5’5” tall, thin build, wearing a light-colored sweatshirt, dark pants and a cloth covering his face.
