Police: Construction Worker Charged In Dover Mall Burglaries

The Dover Police Department has arrested Otto McDonald in connection with multiple burglaries inside of the Dover Mall that occurred in May of 2019, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.

Hoffman said McDonald was a temp-worker performing labor at Victoria’s Secret store and had access to the mall. He worked for the construction crew that built the new Victorias Secret Store subcontracted by Victoria’s secret.

During this time, it is believed that McDonald stole multiple tools from multiple victims at Victoria’s Secret and pawned them at a local pawn shop, said Hoffman.

Hoffman also said it is police believe McDonald committed the burglaries at Piercing Pagoda and Journey’s Shoe Store inside of the mall.

McDonald was released on an O.R. Bond on the following charges:
-Burglary 3rd Degree (4x)
-Theft $1500.00 or Greater (2x)
-Theft Under $1500.00 (3x)
-Theft by False Pretense (2x)
-Criminal Mischief (3x)

Correction: An earlier version of this story identified McDonald as an employee of Victorias Secret. Our understanding is he was actually a construction worker work at the location.
