Police: Two Women Charged With Robbing Dollar General

Wilmington Police have arrested and charged two women in connection with a store robbery that occurred earlier this month.

On May 18 at approximately 9:15 a.m., police were dispatched to the Dollar General in the 1700 block of Lancaster Avenue in reference to a shoplifting incident and an assault that had taken place.

Arriving officers learned that two women had attempted to steal items from the store. When one of the women, 24-year-old Jayjuana Craig, was stopped at the door by employees, she struggled and caused a minor injury to one of the employees, police said.

The other woman, 32-year-old Shareese West, also attempted to remove items from the store without paying but discarded the items when she was also stopped by employees at the door, according to police.

Officers located Craig in the 1300 block of West 3rd Street and took her into custody without incident. She has been charged with robbery (first degree) and receiving stolen property under $1,500. She was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution pending further proceedings.

West was located at the corner of 4th and Delamore Streets, and has been charged with robbery (first degree). She was arraigned in the New Castle County Court of Common Pleas and was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women’s Correctional Institution on $2,000 cash-only bail.
