Troopers:Man Charged With Burglarizing Ex-Girlfriend’s Home, Assaulting Husband

Laurel– The Delaware State Police have arrested a Harbeson man after he broke into his ex-girlfriend’s residence and assaulted her husband, according to  Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on May 8, 2019, at approximately 4:15 a.m., when Troopers were dispatched to a residence in the 28000 block of Seaford Road in Laurel, in reference to a burglary.

Upon arrival, contact was made with a resident who advised that her ex-boyfriend, 27-year-old Cameron Connelly had forced entry into her residence, said Jaffe. The victim indicated that while she was in the kitchen she was startled by Connelly who was wearing a bandana covering his face.

Connelly proceeded to pull down the bandana and identified himself. The victim was able to call for her husband who ran downstairs and confronted Connelly. A brief struggle ensued between the two, in which the male victim sustained minor injuries. Connelly was able to flee the residence after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash, Jaffe said.

Connelly was apprehended a short distance from the residence without incident and transported back to Troop 5 where he was charged with the following:

Burglary Second Degree
Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
Possession of Burglar Tools
Assault Third
Theft
Disorderly Conduct

He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $1600.00 secured bond.
