Update: Reports Of A Parachutist In The Water Near Lewes Unfounded

Update: Upon arrival, crews reported trash in the water. Evidently, the 911 caller mistook falling party balloons as falling a skydiver.

Lewes – Rescue crews from the Rehoboth, Indian River and  Bethany Beach Fire Companies, along with Trooper 2, several marine units and the U.S>Coast Guard are responding to the 25000 block of Herring Landing for reports of a parachutist in the water.

Reports from the scene indicate that the coast guard vessel is racing to the scene. Trooper 2 is about two minutes out.
