Delmarva Pole Barn And $125,000 In Equipment Destroyed By Fire

Worton, Md. – Just after 9:00 last evening, June 3, 2019, firefighters with the Betterton Volunteer Fire Company responded to the 11000 block of Clark Road in Worton, Kent County Maryland for a 32′ X 30′ Wood Frame Pole Barn fire.

Officials with the Office of the State Fire Marshal said a passerby alerted the family of the fire and contacted 911.

The pole barn and the contents located inside, including a pickup truck, one John Deere Gator, three ATV’s, one dirt bike, and one riding lawn mower, sustained extensive damage as a result of the fire.

The structure and contents are considered to be a complete loss, officials said. The estimated damage to the structure is $25,000.00, the contents another $125,00.00,

Officials said the preliminary cause of the fire is under investigation. Anyone that has information regarding the fire is asked to contact the Upper Eastern Regional Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal at 410-822-7609.
