Just In: Man Killed In Friday Morning Motorcycle Crash Identified

The Dover Police Department is investigating a fatal motorcycle crash that occurred early Friday morning, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.

Hoffman said at approximately 1:30  Friday morning, June 28th, 2019, nearby residents heard what they believed to be a collision in the area but did not locate the crash due to the dark conditions. The residents did not call the police, according to Hoffman. At approximately 5:24,  a resident found the crash scene and notified police.

Hoffman said based on early findings, it is believed that Nicholas Dilorenzo, 29, of Wyoming, Delaware, was operating a 2001 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Wyoming Mill Road at a high rate of speed at approximately 1:30 and failed to negotiate a left curve in the roadway and lost control, traveling off the east side of the roadway and striking two fences prior to stopping in a backyard.

Dilorenzo succumbed to his injuries at the scene. The crash remains under investigation at this time.
