Police: Package Thief Caught In The Act, Released On Unsecured Bail

Wilmington Police have arrested and charged a man who was caught stealing packages from residences, according to authorities.

Police said on June 12, 2019, at approximately 1:30 p.m., police were called to the 1700 block of North Rodney Street in reference to a package theft that had just occurred. Police learned that the suspect was interrupted by a resident while attempting to steal a package from their property.

Responding officers searched the area, and within minutes located 48-year-old Jamie Garrison, who was carrying a package bearing the address of a property in the 1700 block of West 14th Street. Garrison also had other merchandise in his possession from packages he had removed from properties, police said.

The property recovered from Garrison was returned to the victims by police.

Garrison has been charged with two counts of theft under $1,500 and was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11. He was released on $1,000 unsecured bail.
