Police: Suspect Captured After Foot Chase, Found With Altered Firearm

Wilmington Police have arrested a 31-year-old man and recovered a firearm with an obliterated serial number after the man fled on foot from officers.

On June 2 at approximately 10 p.m., police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Baynard Boulevard in reference to a person armed with a firearm, according to police. Arriving officers observed a man matching the description of the suspect provided to police running through an apartment towards a rear door.

Officials said the suspect, 31-year-old Dylan Joyner, fled onto a rear balcony and jumped into an alley below, fleeing from officers. Additional units coordinated their response and located the suspect within the 2300 block of Baynard Boulevard, taking him into custody without further incident.

During the course of their investigation, police recovered a loaded .40-caliber handgun with an obliterated serial number in the apartment.

Joyner has been charged with possession of a firearm by a person prohibited, possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, possession of marijuana and resisting arrest. He was arraigned in Justice of the Peace Court 11 and released on $6,000 secured bail.
