Troopers: Gunman Demanded Cigarettes During Wawa Robbery

New Castle – The Delaware State Police are investigating the robbery of a New Castle Convenience Store that occurred early Wednesday morning, according to Director of Public Information, Sergeant Richard Bratz.

Bratz said the incident occurred at approximately 1:36 a.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2019, at the Wawa Convenience Store located at 7 East Commons Boulevard, New Castle, Delaware. A male suspect approached the clerk at the sales counter, displayed a handgun, and stole cigarettes, said Bratz. The suspect was described as white male approximately 60 years old, 5’08” tall with a thin build and fled in a black SUV onto eastbound West Basin Road. The suspect was last seen traveling into the entrance of Chelsea Estates/ Cumberland Farms. The employee was not injured as a result of the incident.
