Wanted Lincoln Man Charged Following Brief Foot Pursuit

Milford Police have arrested a Lincoln man after he led officers on a brief foot pursuit, according to Sgt. Robert Masten.

Masten said on June 18, 2019, at approximately 8:26 pm, an officer on patrol observed Louis D. Welch, 22, of Lincoln, on foot in the 600 block of North DuPont Boulevard (US Rt 113).

A check through the Delaware Criminal Justice Information System, it was learned Welch was wanted for multiple cases out of the Justice of the Peace Court #6 and the Kent County Court of Common Pleas. As the officer attempted to contact Welch he fled on foot to the west side of North DuPont Boulevard. With the assistance of an off duty law enforcement officer, Welch was taken into custody without further incident.

While on the west side of North DuPont Boulevard it was learned that Welch entered a property in which he was banned from in 2018. Welch has been charged with Resisting Arrest and Criminal Trespass 3rd Degree. He was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #7 and later committed to the custody of the Delaware Department of Correction at the Sussex Correctional Institution. He Welch is scheduled for an arraignment in September at the Kent County Court of Common Pleas on the newest charges.
