Authorities Update Basin Road Crash That Sent Two To Hospital, Closed Road

At approximately 5:40this morning, New Castle County Paramedics and surrounding fire companies were dispatched to the area of 900 West Basin Road for a motor vehicle crash, according to Paramedic Corporal Yvonne Russell.

Russell said upon arrival, New Castle County Paramedics found one patient, 71-year-old-male, needing advanced life support care. The patient suffered injuries to his shoulder, legs and face. He was transported to Christiana Hospital via Wilmington Manor Fire Company ambulance accompanied by New Castle County Paramedics. The patient was in stable condition at the time of transport.

One patient needing basic life support care was transported to Christiana Hospital via Cranston Heights Fire Company in care of emergency medical technicians. That patient was in stable condition.

Delaware State Police is investigating the crash.

Just before 5:40 this morning, Tuesday, July 23, 2019, rescue crews from the Wilmington Manor, Cranston Heights, and Minquadale Fire Companies along with crews from the Delaware National Guard Rescue Squad, New Castle County Medics, and New Castle Police were dispatched to W Basin Road at Airpot Road for a motor vehicle accident with entrapment.

At approximately 6:00 Command reported that extrication was complete and that two patients were being transported to the hospital.

Update: At 6:15 am the road remained partially blocked, however, at least one lane was getting by.
