The Delaware Department of Correction announced this morning that Christopher Radcliffe, serving time for second-degree robbery, absconded from the Sussex Community Corrections Center (SCCC) in Georgetown after he willfully failed to return from an approved work pass on Tuesday. His whereabouts are unknown and unauthorized at this time, said officials. A Warrant for Escape after Conviction has been issued.
Radcliffe, 40, is described as a white male 5’09”, 155 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes. he has tattoos on his right shoulder and back.
In 2018 the Delaware State Police (DSP) arrested Radcliffe in connection with a robbery that occurred at the Rite Aid located at 24892 John J. Williams Highway in Millsboro.
At the time DSP spokeswoman Melissa Jaffe said the incident occurred on Thursday, April 5, 2018, at approximately 9:00 p.m. when Troopers were dispatched to the Rite Aid convenience store located at 24892 John J. Williams Highway for a robbery. Radcliffe had entered the business, approached the clerk and demanded money from the register, according to Jaffe. The clerk complied with Radcliffe’s demands and turned over an undisclosed amount of cash, prior to him fleeing the business.
After his arrest for the robbery on Saturday, April 7, 2018, Radcliffe was transported to Troop 4 where he was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 3 on charges including; Robbery First Degree, Unauthorized Use of a Motor Vehicle and Violation of Probation. He was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution on $102,000 cash bail.
Community Corrections Centers are Level 4 facilities where the Department of Correction manages offenders who are transitioning back into the community. These centers are not secured like Level 5 prisons, as offenders are permitted to leave the facility to go to work, seek jobs, or attend approved treatment sessions.
