Photos – Lightening Strikes Damage Three Homes And A School Overnight

A storm that swept through Sussex County, Delaware last evening caused three fires that were determined to be the result of lightning strikes, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio.

Two houses were reported on fire in the 32000 block of Woods Court east of Millsboro. Lightning struck the structures causing an estimated $15,000 in damage to each home. A third lightning strike occurred in the 32000 block of Mount Pleasant Road near Laurel causing an estimated $25,000 in damage.

State fire investigators from the Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal responded to the three fires. There were no reported injuries.

Lightning also struck Georgetown Middle & Elementary School in Georgetown.
