Vehicle Fire At Milltown Senior Center Sends One To Hospital

Milltown – Just after 15:15 this afternoon firefighters from the Mill Creek and Belvedere Fire Companies responded to the Mid-County Senior Center, located at 1 First Regiment Road in the Sherwood Park II development, for reports a vehicle on fire.

Ambulance crews and New Castle County Paramedics were dispatched when they learned that a person may have been injured as a result of the fire.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that the vehicle caught fire when the driver turned the ignition on. Smoke started to fill the interior of the vehicle forcing the driver to flee the vehicle. Additional reports from the scene indicate that the driver did not suffer serious injuries, however, she was reportedly transported to Christiana Hospital as a precaution.

Officials on scene said that the fire completely destroyed the vehicle.

Fire Marshals are currently investigating the cause of the fire.
