Happening Now: Crews Responding To Water Rescue Off Bethany Beach

Bethany Beach – Rescue crews from the Bethany Beach Volunteer Fire Company along with DNREC, Sussex County Medics, the US Coast Guard, and Trooper 2 have been dispatched to 39553 Three Rs Road in Bethany Beach for reports of a person in the water.

While en route crews were told that a person was about half a mile off the beach waving their arms.

Trooper 2 arriving on scene at around 4:50 pm was told that the person went under the water and did not resurface.

Trooper 2 and a marine unit are currently searching the waters off Bethany Beach.

Update: A woman approached crews to report that she was in the water swimming. Crews were working to determine if she is the person that was spotted in the water. She is not injured.

Update: Trooper 2 and all other crews have been placed in service. Command has placed the incident under control.
