Man Held On Numerous Charges After Officer Hears Shots Fired

On Thursday, September 5, 2019, at approximately 12:34 am, an Milford Police Officer on patrol in the area of Brightway Commons heard what was thought to be shots fired. As this was investigated further several vehicles were seen fleeing the area at a high rate of speed, according to  Sgt. Robert Masten.

One of the vehicles was stopped on Old Shawnee Road after it nearly struck another vehicle. During that vehicle stop the operator, Treyvon L. Bowman, 25 of Ellendale, was contacted to investigate the incident. The investigation led to the discovery of a .45 caliber handgun and cocaine, according to Masten. Masten said that Bowman was also allegedly operating the vehicle while impaired and was taken into custody.

Bowman was charged with Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, Possession With The Intent To Deliver A Controlled Substance, Possession of a Weapon in a Safe School Zone, Possession of a Weapon By Person Prohibited, Receiving a Stolen Firearm, 3rd Offense Driving a Vehicle Under the Influence of Alcohol, Disregarding a Police Officer Signal, Possession of a Firearm While Under the Influence, Driving While Suspended or Revoked, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Failure to Remain in a Single Lane, Driving at an Unreasonable Speed, and Following Too Closely.

He was presented at the Justice of the Peace Court #2, where bail was set at $47,503.00 secured. Bowman was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution and is scheduled to appear at the Sussex County Court of Common Pleas on 09.12.2019. This investigation is ongoing.

An unoccupied parked vehicle was struck by gunfire during the incident said Masten.
