Reports: Bicyclist Seriously Injured In Lewes Flown To Trauma Center

Lewes – The Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a serious motor vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 12:32 p.m., Wednesday, September 11, 2019, on Coastal Hwy. in the area of Kings Highway in Lewes, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Reports from the scene indicate that a bicyclist was struck by an SUV. The patient suffered very serious injuries and was transported to the Trauma Center at Christiana Hospital via Trooper 2 (Delaware State Police Aviation).

Austin said as a result of the crash the northbound right lane of Coastal Hwy. is closed. Motorists will experience delays in the area and are advised to seek alternate routes of travel.
