Troopers Identify Two Killed In High-Speed Motorcycle Crash Sunday

Dover- The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a double fatal crash involving a motorcycle that occurred yesterday, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on September 1, 2019 at approximately 6:27 p.m., when a 2001 Suzuki Katana 600 motorcycle was traveling eastbound on Voshells Mill Star Hill Road east of Burton Drive in front of the Star Hill Elementary School. The motorcycle was traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to negotiate a slight left curve, said Jaffe. The motorcycle traveled off the south edge of the roadway striking a concrete curb. The motorcycle continued eastbound through a grass area in front of the school before striking a tree and ejecting both the operator and passenger.

The operator, 19-year-old Brendon M. Harden, was not wearing a helmet or any type of protective clothing. He did not have a motorcycle endorsement license and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The passenger, 20-year-old Kiarra A. Hickman, was not wearing a helmet or any type of protective clothing and was also pronounced deceased at the scene.

Voshells Mill Star Hill Road was closed for approximately 3 1/2 hours while the crash was investigated and cleared.

The crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
