Troopers Identify Woman Killed In Hamburg Road Crash

The Delaware State Police have identified the driver who died in a crash on September 28, 2019, on Hamburg Road between U.S. 13 and DE 9 as 25-year-old Chelsea F. Kuczynski of Middletown, Delaware.

The crash continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating a fatal crash that occurred on Friday, September 27, 2019, at approximately 4:06 p.m. in which a driver has succumbed to her injuries.

The driver and sole occupant of a 2002 Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling eastbound on Hamburg Road from U.S. Route 13 towards River Road (DE Route 9). According to a witness, the 25-year-old female driver suddenly veered to the right and exited the roadway. The vehicle then disappeared momentarily into the wooded area before striking a large standing tree. The impact into the tree spun the vehicle around 180-degrees and ejected the unrestrained operator. The victim and the vehicle came to rest several feet away from the tree. It is unknown why the driver failed to maintain her vehicle within the single eastbound lane of Hamburg Road, Troopers said.

The operator of the Chevrolet Cavalier, a 25-year-old female from Middletown, Delaware was pronounced deceased at the scene. Her name is being withheld at this time pending the notification of next of kin.

Breaking Report

New Castle – Just after 4:00 this afternoon rescue crews from the Wilmington Manor Fire Company along with New Castle County Paramedics and Delaware State Police responded to the 700 block Hamburg Road for reports of a motor vehicle accident.

While crews were en route they learned that the patient was receiving life-saving treatment from either Troopers or good Samaritans on scene.

Radio reports indicate that one vehicle left the road and struck a tree.

State Police have closed the road between Route 9 and Route 13.

The road is expected to be closed for an extended period of time.
