Troopers: Knife-Wielding Man Robs Two Woman, 50, 82 At Bus Stop Monday Night

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery that took place at a bus stop on Maryland Avenue in Wilmington, Monday night, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 9:39 p.m., Monday, September 23, 2019, at a bus stop located in the area of 1905 Maryland Avenue. Two females, 50 and 82 years of age respectively, were seated at the bus stop when they were approached a male suspect. The suspect first approached the 50-year-old, displayed a knife and demanded money, according to Austin. The victim then became engaged in a brief struggle with the suspect who knocked her to the ground. The suspect then approached the 82-year-old victim, still with the knife displayed and snatched her purse. The suspect then fled on foot towards Alban Drive.

The 50-year-old victim who sustained a minor injury due to falling to the ground was able to retain her property. The 82-year-old victim was not injured as a result of the incident.

The suspect could only be described as a black male, approximately 30 years of age, 6’00”-6’5″ tall.
