On Tuesday evening, September 24, 2019, at about 8:25, Newark Police responded to the Newark Shopping Center, located at 230 East Main Street, for a report of a robbery, according to Lt Andrew Rubin.

Rubin said officers contacted the male victim who reported that he was in a breezeway in the shopping center when he was approached by a male suspect. The suspect attempted to engage the victim in conversation and the victim began to walk away from the suspect.

The suspect then attacked the victim by punching him in the head and knocking him to the ground, according to Rubin. The suspect then removed property from the victim and fled on foot northbound from the shopping center.

The suspect is described as a black male, early 20’s, 5’8″ – 5’10”, short dreadlocks and was wearing a red shirt. The suspect did not display any weapon.

The victim sustained minor injuries and did not require medical treatment.
