Police Make Arrest In August Shooting in Claymont

On August 25, 2019, the New Castle County Division of Police was dispatched to the unit block of Balfour Avenue, Claymont, Delaware, 19703, for a reported shooting incident. After a lengthy investigation, detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit were able to sign an arrest warrant for 19-year-old, Shacir Hunter, officials said Tuesday.

Last week, Hunter was arrested in Chester, Pennsylvania by the Chester Police Department and the US Marshal’s Service.

He is currently awaiting extradition back to Delaware.

Yesterday (August 25) at approximately 10:05 p.m. officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the area of Balfour Ave, in the community of Knollwood, for a report of a shooting. When the officers arrived, they found a 20-year-old victim suffering from a gunshot wound to an extremity.

The victim was transported to a local area hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived on scene and have assumed the investigation. This is an active and ongoing investigation.
