Records: Man Charged With Attempting To Have Sex With Pony Now Wanted

The man that was shot while police said he was trying to molest a pony has missed his court date.

In October of 2018,  Adelio A. Guzman of Camden, was charged with attempting to have sex with a pony by the Delaware State Police and released on unsecured bond.

Guzman, scheduled for trial in May of 2019, currently has warrants out for failure to appear, according to the Delaware Department of Justice Capias website.

This news came to light when Senator Colin Bonini announced on Monday that he would be introducing new legislation that would address “major flaws” in the unsecured bail system in Delaware.

First State Update took a look at several suspects that were released on unsecured bail to see if they had missed their court dates. Out of the seven we looked at, three are currently wanted.  Guzman is one of those wanted by the police.

Update

Camden-Wyoming – The Delaware State Police have arrested the suspect in connection with a burglary incident that led to a shooting, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, October 2, 2018, at approximately 9:37 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to Pony Track Road for a report of a shooting. Upon arrival, Troopers located a 45-year-old male who had sustained gunshot wounds to his lower extremities.

Further investigation revealed that the 45-year-old male, identified as Adelio A. Guzman of Camden, had entered the property without permission, said Jaffe. The residents became aware that someone was trespassing in their barn when their alarm activated. The residents, a 73-year-old male and he and his 65-year-old wife responded to the barn where they discovered Guzman, according to Jaffe. The male resident discharged a firearm striking Guzman.

It was learned that Guzman had previously entered the property without permission prior to the October 2, 2018 incident, according to Jaffe. Guzman turned himself in at Troop 3 on October 12, 2018, and was charged with the following:

Attempted to Commit/Engages in Any Sexual Act Involving an Animal
Burglary Third Degree (2 counts)
Criminal Trespass First Degree (3 counts)
Attempted to Commit Cruelty to Animals by Killing or Injure Another Person’s Animal Without Consent
Cruelty to Animals by Killing or Injure Another Person’s Animal Without Consent
Criminal Mischief

Guzman was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on $11,750.00 unsecured bond.

First State Update has confirmed that the location of this incident is the same location where a pony was molested back in August.

This case continues to remain under investigation by the Delaware State Police Criminal Investigative Unit.

Original Story

Camden Wyoming – At around 9:30 last evening, Tuesday, October 2, 2018, rescue crews from the Felton and Marydel Fire Companies, along with State Police responded to the unit block of Pony Track Road for a medical emergency.

Sources familiar with the incident said that Trooper 2 (Delaware State Police Aviation) also responded to the scene for reports of a shooting.

While not confirmed, it’s believed that the location on Pony Track Road is the same location where a horse was molested in August of this year.

In August the Delmarva Equine Clinic posted a warning on Facebook that read:

“Warning! Disturbing info!

Please be vigilant & keep a close eye on your horses & property. Some time overnight (8/15-16, 2018), a pony residing in Camden, Delaware was sexually molested. The pony was in her stall in her owner’s barn at the time of the attack. Although the mare suffered significant trauma, she is expected to recover. A report has been filed with the Delaware State Police. If you have any information or see any suspicious activity, please report it to the authorities immediately.”

At the time Delaware State Police Spokeswoman M/Cpl. Melissa Jaffe, said troopers responded to a residence on Pony Track Road in Camden. Jaffe said an unknown person or persons entered a barn on the property and assaulted a horse sometime between the hours of 7 p.m. Wednesday and 4 a.m. Thursday.

The Delaware State Police just released the following statement at 12:20 pm:

The Delaware State Police are currently investigating a burglary incident that led to a shooting last evening.

Further investigation revealed that the 45-year-old male from Greenwood had entered the property without permission. The residents became aware that someone was trespassing in their barn when their alarm activated. The residents, a 73-year-old male and he and his 65-year-old wife responded to the barn where they discovered the male subject. The male resident discharged a firearm and struck the intruder.

The intruder was transported to a local area hospital where he was listed in stable condition.

The two residents were not injured as a result of this incident.

Officials have not publicly connected the two incidents.

This is a developing story.
