Police: Newark Woman Escapes Assailant After Being Badly Beaten, Robbed

New Castle County Division of Police has arrested 32-year-old, Nenad Trkuljia, in relation to a felony robbery investigation from the community of Forest Knoll, according to police.

Officials said last Tuesday, Oct 29, 2019, patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the area of Wellington Drive and Kings Bridge Court in the community of Forest Knoll, reference a robbery report. Upon arrival, the officers were able to contact the 30-year-old victim.

The victim reported she was in the area meeting an acquaintance. When she arrived in the area the acquaintance, later identified as 32-year-old, Nenad Trkuljia, entered the vehicle and demanded she hand over all of her money. police said.

The victim stated that she attempted to comply but was struck multiple times in the back of the head with a rock-like object.

After a struggle, the victim was able to escape the vehicle, a 2013 Chevrolet Traverse, and run across the street into the parkland.

Rescue crews from the Christiana Fire Company along with New Castle County Paramedics responded to the incident, which originally dispatched as a stabbing.

The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment of a broken hand and multiple lacerations to her head.

The Chevrolet Traverse was later located unoccupied in the community of Glendale.

Earlier this morning, Nov 1, 2019, officers from the New Castle County Division of Police SWAT team were able to apprehend Trkuljia at his residence on Kings Bridge Court, also in the community of Forest Knoll.

He was transported to New Castle County Division of Police Headquarters and charged with one count of felony Robbery 1st, and one count of felony Theft of a Motor Vehicle.

He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and held in lieu of $27,500 cash bail.

Rescue crews from the Christiana Fire Company along with New Castle County Police and Paramedics are responding to Wellington Drive for reports of a stabbing.

Police have just arrived on scene have brought the scene under control. Emergency crews also arriving on scene.

Trooper 4 has been dispatched and is about go airborne.
