On Thursday evening (Oct 31), at approximately 7:15 p.m., units from the New Castle County Division of Police Mobile Enforcement Team located a black Honda Pilot that was reported to have been taken in an armed carjacking.

The Honda Pilot was traveling out of the community of Edgemoor and headed west onto Edgemoor road. As the officers activated their emergency equipment in the area of Edgemoor Road and Beeson Ave., the Honda Pilot immediately accelerated in an attempt to flee.

When the Honda Pilot entered the intersection of Philadelphia Pike and Shipley Road it struck a white Mercedes which was traveling southbound on Philadelphia Pike.

The driver of the Honda Pilot exited the vehicle and then fled on foot into the Chateau Orleans Apartment complex.

The 51-year-old driver of the Mercedes and her 17-year-old-passenger were both transported to a local hospital for serious, non-life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the Honda Pilot is described to be an 18 to 25-year-old, black male, wearing dark clothing.
