Vehicle Occupant Flees On Foot After Fiery Crash Saturday

Newport – Just before 1:30 Saturday morning rescue crews from Newport’s Miquas Fire Company along with crews from the Christiana Fire Company were dispatched to I-95 SB in the area of the Newport Industrial Park for reports of a vehicle fire.

While en route crews learned that multiple callers were reporting that the vehicle was involved in a crash with two other vehicles.

Upon their arrival crews reported that the vehicle was fully engulfed in flames.

Initial reports from the scene indicate that one patient was transported to the hospital and that another occupant had fled the scene on foot.

Delaware State Police Aviation’s Trooper 4 responded to the area to assist in a search for the person that fled, however, they were unable to locate that individual.

Deleware State Police are investigating this accident.
