Earlier this evening Saturday, December 28, 2019, patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police along with Delaware State Police Troopers were dispatched to the area of Liborio Lane in the community of Buena Vista Park for a report of a shooting that had just occurred.
When the units arrived, they discovered two juveniles who had been shot in the lower torso. They were transported to a local hospital and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
While police were searching for the suspects they received word that a large crowd was growing at Christiana Hospital. Officers from across the county responded to the emergency room to assist. It’s unclear at this time what occurred at the hospital, however, readers tell us that police formed a line off officers near the ER. That has not been confirmed.

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit arrived on scene and have assumed the investigation. This is an active and ongoing investigation.

Several people on First State Updates Facebook page repeatedly commented that there was a mass shooting involving a gang and the police. Those comments were deleted as they were posted as that did not occur.
