Just In: One Dead, One Injured After Smyrna Crash, Route 13 Closed

Just after 5:20, Tuesday evening rescue crews from the Citizen’s Hose Company of Smyrna, along with crews from the Leipsic VFC, Kent County Medics, and Smyrna Police responded to 304 North Dupont Blvd (The Royal Farms) for reports of a pedestrian struck.

Arriving crews have reported that one pedestrian is deceased after being struck by a vehicle. A second patient has suffered a head injury. It is unclear at this time if the second patient was in the vehicle or is also a pedestrian.

Smyrna Police has issued the following statement “Smyrna PD is currently on the scene of a serious vehicle vs pedestrian collision on US 13 at the Duck Creek bridge. Motorists are urged to avoid the area as the roadway is closed for the investigation. The driver of the striking vehicle remained on scene. More details will be released as they become available.”

Crews have ordered Route 13 closed in both directions.

Avoid the area.
