Happening Now: Crash Sends Vehicle Off The Road, Two Trapped, Road Closed

Middletown – Rescue crews from the Odessa and Port Penn Fire Company along with Trooper 4 are responding to Port Penn Road at Route 13 for a vehicle accident with entrapment.

An off-duty first responded on scene is reporting two patients trapped in a vehicle that is off the roadway into a ditch.

Crews arriving on scene are asking for assistance from the Delaware City Fire Company as well.

Troopers are closing the NB lanes of Route 13.

Command is asking for a total of three ambulances.

Update: 8:36 am – Patients have been freed from the vehicle.

Update: 8:40 am – New Castle County Paramedics have arrived on scene. Trooper 4 also on scene has been recalled.

Update: 8:45 am – Patients are shaken up but not seriously injured. Neither patient in the vehicle that went off the roadway will be transported. A third patient in the other vehicle is refusing transport as well.
