Police Identify Man Shot And Killed In Wilton On New Year’s Eve

Detectives from the New Castle County Division of Police Criminal Investigations Unit Homicide Squad announced that the victim of last night’s shooting investigation, 37-year-old Cornelius Wright has been pronounced deceased at a local hospital.

Currently, this is still an active and ongoing investigation.

New Castle County Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in New Castle on New Year’s Eve.

At approximately 6:49 p.m., patrol officers from the New Castle County Division of Police were dispatched to the 700 block of Willings Way, in the community of Ashton Condominiums for a report of a shooting that had just occurred.

When the units arrived, they discovered a male subject inside a parked car in the parking lot. The male was apparently suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Rescue crews reported that they were performing life-saving measures as the victim was then transported to the trauma center at Christiana Hospital. The man suffered serious, life-threatening injuries, according to officials.

Detectives from the New Castle County Police Criminal Investigations Unit have assumed the investigation.
