Police: Person Prohibited Discovered With AK-47 In Dover

Dover Police has charged Maurice Parker, 24, with multiple weapons and drug charges, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.

Hoffman said on January 2nd, 2020, officers stopped Parker on Kentwood Drive during a vehicle stop. Parker was found to be in possession of 7.62 caliber rounds (AK-47 ammunition). Delaware Probation and Parole then executed an administrative search at Parker’s residence on Persimmon Tree Lane. That search led to the discovery of .45 caliber ammunition and 10 bags of heroin, said Hoffman.

At the time, Parker was charged with the following offenses:
-Possession of Ammunition by Person Prohibited (2x)
-Possession of Heroin
-Drug Paraphernalia
-Violation of Probation

After further investigation, police discovered evidence that Parker was in possession of the AK-47 firearm, said Hoffman. Parker was then charged with Possession of a Firearm by Person Prohibited.

He was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $10,200 bond on all charges.
