Police: Woman Shot While Walking Into Her Home

Delmar- The Delaware State Police are assisting the Delmar Police Department in investigating a shooting incident that occurred last evening, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on January 8, 2020, at approximately 8:32 p.m., when the Delmar Police Department responded to the 11000 block of Buckingham Drive in Delmar, Delaware in reference to a female being struck by gunfire.

Further investigation revealed that the female victim was standing at the front door to her residence, attempting to enter when she was struck by rounds.

The Delmar Police Department requested the assistance of the Delaware State Police. Detectives collected one projectile from the front porch of the residence and another projectile is known to have entered the residence from the direction of the roadway.

The 56-year-old female victim sustained two non-life threatening gunshot wounds and was transported to a local area hospital.
