Three Siblings Arrested In Connection To Shooting That Left Woman In Critical Condition

The Delaware State Police have arrested three juvenile siblings in connection with the shooting incident that occurred in Felton on Sunday, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffe said the incident occurred on January 19, 2020, at approximately 5:58 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Barney Jenkins Road, Felton, for a report of multiple shots being fired. It was learned that a 19-year-old female had been struck by gunfire and privately transported to a local area hospital.

Through further investigations, three juveniles were identified as suspects, a 16-year-old male, a 17-year-old female, and a 17-year-old male. The 16-year-old was identified as the male who was wearing a disguise, brandished a firearm and discharged multiple rounds, according to Jaffe.

All three suspects were taken into custody without incident on January 22, 2020 while at Family Court in Kent County.

The 16-year-old was charged with the following:

Attempted to Commit Murder First Degree
Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
Possession of a Firearm by Prohibited Juvenile
Wearing a Disguise During the Commission of a Felony
Riot-Intent to Commit Facilitate Commission of Felony or Misdemeanor
Conspiracy Second Degree
He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Stevenson House Detention Center on $821,000.00 secured bond.

The two 17-year-olds were charged with the following:

Riot-Intent to Commit Facilitate Commission of Felony or Misdemeanor
Conspiracy Second Degree
Both were arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court and committed to the Stevenson House Detention Center on $5000.00 secured bond.

Felton- The Delaware State Police are continuing to investigate a shooting incident that occurred on Sunday, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Melissa Jaffe.

Jaffee said the incident occurred on January 19, 2020, at approximately 5:58 p.m., when Troopers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Barney Jenkins Road, Felton, for a report of multiple shots being fired. It was learned that a 19-year-old female had been struck by gunfire and privately transported to a local area hospital.

Further investigation into this incident revealed that a fight was communicated via social media due to an ongoing feud, according to Jaffe. Approximately 15-25 individuals responded to Barney Jenkins Road to witness the fight. A verbal altercation began between the 19-year-old female victim and another 19-year-old female. Subsequently, multiple fights broke out and a black male, wearing a disguise, brandished a firearm and discharged multiple rounds, according to Jaffe. The 19-year-old female was struck by gunfire and remains in critical condition in an area hospital. There were no other injuries reported as a result of this incident.
