Troopers: Fairfax-Area Bank Employee Assaulted With Pepper Spray

Wilmington – The Delaware State Police are investigating a pepper spray assault that took place in a Fairfax area shopping center on Tuesday morning, according to Public Information Officer, Master Corporal Michael Austin.

Austin said the incident occurred at approximately 11:04 a.m., Tuesday, January 28, 2020, in the parking lot of the Wells Fargo Bank, located at 2011 Concord Pike in Wilmington. A 23-year-old female was walking through the parking lot towards the Wells Fargo, where she is an employee when she came upon a male subject.

As she passed the male, he asked whether she was a bank employee, to which she replied yes. At that point, the male produced a canister of pepper spray and sprayed the victim, said Austin. The victim continued into the bank and the male fled in an unknown direction by unknown means.

The suspect, who is a stranger to the victim, was described as a white male, 50-60 years of age, 5’7”-5”8” tall, 175-185 lbs., wearing a brown jacket. Prior to the assault occurring the suspect was observed leaning against a white unknown make and model sedan.
