Dover Police Say Autopsy Rules Out Homicide In Death Investigation

The Dover Police department has ruled out homicide as the cause of death in a 50-year-old man found in a home earlier this month, according to M/Cpl. Mark Hoffman, Public Information Officer.

Hoffman said following an autopsy on February 5th, homicide has been ruled out as the cause of death of a 50-year-old male on a N. Governors Avenue home. Toxicology results are still pending to determine the cause of death, but foul play is not suspected. The name of the deceased will not be released as a result.

The Dover Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit is conducting a death investigation after a 50-year-old male was found deceased inside a home on North Governors Avenue. Officers responded to the residence for a psychiatric incident after a subject called the police department. When they contacted the caller inside of the residence, officers located the body of the deceased man. The caller was taken to a nearby hospital for an evaluation. No obvious cause of death was able to be determined at the scene and an autopsy is scheduled in the near future. Names of both the caller/subject contacted and the deceased male are being withheld pending further investigation and next of kin notifications.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302)736-7130. Callers may remain anonymous.
