Happening Now: Trash Truck Takes Out Four Utility Poles, Porter Road Closed

Bear – Just before 11:00 this morning firefighters from the Christiana Fire Company, along with Delaware State Police responded to porter road at Jayson Drive for an accident involving powerlines.

While en route crews were told that a trash truck had taken down electrical lines on Porter Road near Route 896.  Callers also told dispatchers that the lines were down on the truck and sparking.

Arriving Troopers have reported that the traffic lights at Route 896 and Porter are out. They are also reporting that four poles are down.

Delmarva is reporting that 903 customers affected by the outage.

Porter Road will likely be closed into the evening. We are expecting an update from Delamara Power shortly.
