Reports: Officer-Involved Rollover Crash Snarls Route 141

Newport – Multiple Troopers and emergency personal have responded to Route 141 SB at Old Airport Road for a motor vehicle accident with a rollover.

Not much is known about this incident, however, initial reports from the scene indicate that a Trooper has suffered minor injuries while subduing a suspect.

A second Trooper also suffered minor injuries during the incident according to the reports. Both Troopers have refused transport by ambulance.

It’s believed that one patient, was transported by Cranston Heights Ambulance to Christiana Hospital. It’s unclear if that was the suspect.

Southbound Route 141 is crawling as crews work to investigate and clear the crash.

Delaware State Police have issued the following statement

“The Delaware State Police are currently on scene of a crash that occurred on February 1, 2020 at approximately 10:53 a.m., on southbound SR 141 in the area of Airport Road, New Castle.

As a result of the crash, the ramp from southbound SR 141 to Airport Road is closed.  Motorist are advised to use caution and avoid the area if possible. Expect traffic delays.
