Four People Hospitalized After Pike Creek House Fire Saturday

The Delaware Office of the State Fire Marshal has determined that today’s early morning fire in the Pike Creek Valley section of Wilmington, Delaware was accidental, according to Assistant State Fire Marshal Michael Chionchio.

Chionchio. said the blaze, reported shortly before 2:00 am, occurred in the 5400 block of Doral Drive in the Fairway Falls development. The Mill Creek Fire Company arrived on the scene with flames engulfing the front of the house. The three adult occupants and one child occupant were transported to the Christiana Hospital  Emergency Room for medical evaluation. All victims were listed in good condition.

State fire investigators conducted the investigation and determined that the fire originated on the exterior front of the home. A lighting fixture on the exterior of the home caused this fire, said Chionchio.

Fire damage was estimated at $10,000. Smoke alarms inside the burning house did operate.
