Police: Man Tried To Murder His Ex With Pipe, Kitchen Knife Saturday

Investigators have charged a woman’s ex-boyfriend with attempted murder after a Saturday morning attack.

Earlier this morning at approximately 1:12, Delaware State Police Troopers were dispatched to a residence on Wilson Farm Road in Bridgeville for a break-in and a serious assault. Responding, Troopers learned that Daniel King, the ex-boyfriend of the female victim had broken into her residence and began assaulting her with a metal pipe, according to police.

Officials said King then grabbed a knife from the kitchen and began stabbing her while she attempted to call 9-1-1. Troopers arrived on scene and located the suspect in the residence where he was taken into custody without incident. The victim was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to a local area hospital for her serious injuries and is listed in stable condition at this time.

King, 56 of Delmar, Delaware was transported to Troop 5 and now faces multiple felony charges stemming from this morning incident.

He was arraigned before the Justice of the Peace Court on the following charges:

Attempted to Commit Murder First Degree
Two counts of Possession of a Deadly Weapon During the Commission of a Felony
Burglary First Degree – Occupied Dwelling Cause Physical Injury
Aggravated Menacing
Possession of Burglar Tools
Criminal Mischief Over $1000 Recklessly Damage Property
Endangering the Welfare of a Child Committed a Crime Child Witnessed by Sight and Sound

He has been committed to the Sussex Correctional Institution in lieu of $215,000.00 cash bond.
